Mumbai, March 23 (NationPress) The legal counsel for Bollywood actress Rhea Chakraborty has stated that the misleading narrative circulated on social media regarding her client following the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput was entirely unwarranted.
He affirmed that the conclusion of the investigation reinstates confidence in justice and the legal system.
On Saturday, the CBI released a closure report indicating that there was no evidence suggesting anyone had compelled Sushant Singh Rajput to take his own life, clearing Rhea Chakraborty and her family of any wrongdoing.
Responding to the closure report, Rhea's attorney, Satish Maneshinde, remarked, "The CBI has submitted a closure report regarding the death of Sushant Singh Rajput after nearly four years. We appreciate the CBI for thoroughly examining all aspects of the case and concluding it. The level of misinformation on social media and electronic platforms was completely unjustified. During the pandemic, people were glued to their screens with nothing else happening in the country. Innocent individuals were relentlessly pursued and displayed before the media and investigative bodies. I hope this does not recur in any other case."
He continued, "I urge media leaders to reflect on their actions. Rhea Chakraborty endured immense suffering and spent 27 days in custody for no wrongdoing until Justice Sarang V. Kotwal granted her bail. I commend her and her family for maintaining silence while enduring such inhumane treatment. They approached me through a close friend and a defense personnel, who are also my schoolmates from a Sainik School. Both Rhea's family and my team faced harassment and threats to our safety. However, nothing could deter us from fulfilling our legal responsibilities."
The lawyer expressed pride in defending a military family pro bono and stated that the rumors regarding his fees should cease.
"I also extend my gratitude to a significant portion of the media for supporting me and Rhea's quest for justice. This nation remains a safe haven, and every citizen seeking justice has hope due to our dynamic judiciary," he concluded.
Sushant was discovered hanging in his apartment located in the Bandra area of Mumbai on June 14, 2020.
