New Delhi, Oct 6 (NationPress) In response to the controversy surrounding the "I Love Muhammad" slogan, Union Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju stated in an exclusive interview with IANS that India remains a nation that does not differentiate based on religion or caste, standing strong under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He highlighted that both minority and majority groups receive equal protection under the Constitution.
Rijiju elaborated on various topics including Rahul Gandhi's comments regarding Indian democracy, the rejection of dynastic politics by Gen Z, the contribution of RSS in nation-building, and recent remarks from Congress leaders that questioned the Armed Forces.
Below is the complete interview:
IANS: Congress leaders have shown immense sensitivity towards the 'I Love Prophet Muhammad' matter, consistently advocating for it. What is your perspective?
Kiren Rijiju: As the Minister for Minority Affairs, I assert that in our nation, regardless of community affiliation, every individual is treated equally. Our Constitution guarantees protection for everyone. Prime Minister Modi initiated the 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas' slogan, promoting unity and progress. Since assuming my role, I've traveled extensively and engaged with individuals from various communities. I am unsure who initiated the divisive slogan under the guise of religion, but under PM Modi, we uphold unity without discrimination.
IANS: Rahul Gandhi has made remarks abroad questioning India’s democracy. What are your thoughts?
Kiren Rijiju: Rahul Gandhi frequently travels abroad, raising concerns about our country. While I have no personal stake in his travels, as the Leader of Opposition, his speeches abroad warrant attention as he reflects Parliament's voice. Negative comments about India and its democracy can mislead people into thinking that all Indians share Rahul Gandhi's views, which is inaccurate and represents a minority opinion. His remarks are indeed troubling.
IANS: Rahul Gandhi often questions India's democracy and freedom of speech during his foreign visits. What is your stance?
Kiren Rijiju: Our nation has had numerous Leaders of Opposition from both Congress and BJP. While Congress has produced notable figures, we too have had esteemed leaders. For instance, Indira Gandhi once chose not to criticize her government while abroad. It’s concerning that Rahul Gandhi is perhaps the first Leader of Opposition who openly criticizes his own country internationally.
IANS: There are perceptions of a potential rebellion among Gen Z in India akin to that in Nepal, with warnings emerging. How do you respond?
Kiren Rijiju: There have been attempts to instigate unrest using examples from Nepal, Bangladesh, and others. Rahul Gandhi mentioned Gen Z, but I want to clarify that this generation has already rejected him multiple times. India’s youth is astute and stands against dynastic politics, aligning with Modi Ji.
IANS: The RSS route march faces opposition in JNU. Should RSS teachings be included in schools and universities?
Kiren Rijiju: The RSS members dedicate their lives to national service. Initially, I too had questions about their workings. However, once the nation comprehends the RSS's essence and spirit, India will surpass even the mightiest nations, as its members serve with unwavering dedication and sacrifice.
IANS: Congress UP president Ajay Rai expresses distrust towards the CDS and Air Force chief. What is your view?
Kiren Rijiju: It is disheartening that whenever our military leaders respond to Pakistan, Congress and opposition figures criticize our Armed Forces before Pakistan does. This is a deeply unfortunate situation. When our military, including the Air Force, provides a strong response to Pakistan's provocations, Congress leaders attack our forces, which is unacceptable. Their opposition has escalated to questioning the very integrity of our nation.
