Patna, Nov 26 (NationPress) The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has expressed strong disapproval regarding the Bihar government's directive for former Chief Minister Rabri Devi to vacate her official residence located at 10, Circular Road in Patna.
On Wednesday, RJD's Bihar State President Mangani Lal Mandal emphatically declared that under no circumstances will Rabri Devi leave her residence.
"Under no circumstances will we vacate Rabri Devi's residence. We will take necessary actions as required," Mandal stated during a media interaction in Patna.
Questioning the motives and timing of the order, Mandal remarked, "Nitish Kumar has held the position of Chief Minister for 20 years. Why was this residence not vacated previously? Both Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi are former Chief Ministers. This appears to be a scheme aimed at humiliating the Lalu family. This decision seems politically motivated and malicious."
The Building Construction Department issued an order on Tuesday evening directing Rabri Devi to vacate the bungalow at 10, Circular Road.
She has been allocated a new residence at 39, Harding Park.
In response to this development, Lalu's daughter Rohini Acharya expressed on X, "This is the model of Sushasan Babu's development. Insulting Lalu Prasad Yadav, who is regarded as a champion of the underprivileged, seems to be the government's utmost priority. You may evict him from his residence, but how will you erase him from the hearts of Bihar's people? If you can't prioritize his health, at least respect Lalu Prasad Yadav's political legacy."
In response to RJD's grievances, JD(U) spokesperson Neeraj Kumar argued that Lalu is caught in a web of misconceptions.
"This led to scandals, resulting in Lalu serving time in jail. Now, he finds himself in need of a government bungalow," Neeraj Kumar asserted.
JD(U) National Spokesperson Rajeev Ranjan stated that the reallocation adhered to established protocols.
"This is a standard procedure. The Central Government assigns residences according to rank. Rabri Devi has received a new residence as per protocol," he informed IANS.
Conversely, Congress leader Shakeel Ahmad accused the Nitish Kumar administration of targeting opposition leaders.
