Patna, Sep 11 (NationPress) The atmosphere in Patna’s Munnachak area has turned tense following the tragic shooting of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Rajkumar Rai, also known as Allah Rai, who was attacked by two assailants on a motorcycle. The incident unfolded late on Wednesday night within the jurisdiction of the Chitragupt Nagar police station. Rai suffered from six gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH).

Patna's SP (East Range), Parichay Kumar, confirmed that the victim was a political figure and had interests in land-related businesses. He mentioned that two suspects were captured on CCTV footage, and six spent cartridges were retrieved from the crime scene.

Originally hailing from Raghopur in the Vaishali district, Rai had been residing in Munnachak. On the night of the incident, he had stopped to purchase food while returning home in his vehicle. At that moment, the two men on a bike approached and opened fire, leaving him severely injured.

Authorities from the nearby Chitragupt Nagar police station promptly arrived at the scene and transported him to PMCH, where he was later declared dead. Senior officials, including ASP Sadar Abhinav Kumar and Kankarbagh SHO Abhay Kumar, swiftly reached the location with additional personnel.

An FIR has been filed, and the police have enlisted the help of the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team to gather evidence. The incident has instilled fear in the community, particularly due to Rai's political affiliations with the RJD.

The police are actively working to identify and capture the perpetrators. Initial investigations suggest that property disputes could be a motive behind this heinous act.

Patna Police are currently interviewing eyewitnesses and family members of the deceased to uncover leads regarding the attackers and the underlying motives. Investigators are also analyzing the deceased's mobile phone for potential evidence.
