Patna, April 1 (NationPress) The Waqf Amendment Bill, scheduled to be presented in Parliament on Wednesday, has ignited a significant political discussion, with the RJD standing against it while the JD-U, LJP (Ram Vilas), and HAM are backing the Central government.

Misa Bharti, RJD MP, reiterated her party’s opposition to the Bill.

“The RJD will firmly oppose the Waqf Bill in Parliament. Our stance has been clear from the outset, and we are resolute. I challenge JD-U and LJP (Ram Vilas) to clarify their positions,” Bharti declared.

She expressed concerns that the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) report might not be presented, suggesting that the BJP could promote a skewed version.

“I have strong doubts that the report from the JPC regarding the Waqf Bill will be introduced in Parliament. The BJP might present reports that align with its interests. When the JPC was established for the Waqf Bill, we requested the Centre to include one Lok Sabha MP from the RJD, but our request was overlooked. The people of Bihar are looking to Nitish Kumar and the JD-U,” Bharti added.

Bharti also questioned Nitish Kumar’s leadership, “Is Nitish Kumar genuinely at the helm of Bihar, or is someone else pulling the strings? I am skeptical that Nitish Kumar is running the Bihar government. JD-U MPs in Delhi seem to have become friendly with the BJP.”

Meanwhile, JD-U’s Sitamarhi MP Devesh Chandra Thakur confirmed his party’s endorsement of the Bill. The JD-U Parliamentary board has issued a directive mandating MPs to attend and vote in favor of this legislation.

The LJP (Ram Vilas) has also issued a mandate directing all five Lok Sabha MPs to support the Bill.

Jitan Ram Manjhi (HAM) and Upendra Kushwaha (Rajya Sabha MP) have also committed to supporting the Bill.
