Kochi, Dec 23 (NationPress) In a remarkable showcase of medical expertise and human empathy, medical professionals in Kerala executed an urgent surgical procedure right on the street, rescuing a critically injured accident victim when reaching a hospital was not an option.

With no operating room, medical instruments, and only moments to spare, the doctors sprang into action. Utilizing the illumination from mobile devices, they performed a life-saving operation at the accident scene, with the support of local residents and law enforcement, effectively converting the road into a temporary operating room.

This incredible event was shared in a Facebook post by V.D. Satheesan, the Leader of the Opposition, on Tuesday. The narrative has since gained significant attention, serving as a compelling reminder of how courage, quick thinking, and compassion can preserve life even in the direst situations.

Satheesan characterized the intervention as an act that bore “the signature of God,” transforming a moment of hopelessness into one of optimism.

The dedicated doctors included Dr. Thomas Peter and his wife, Dr. Didia Thomas from Ernakulam, along with Dr. B. Manoop, Assistant Professor in the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Kottayam Medical College.

As per Satheesan's account, the doctor couple was en route to church when they stumbled upon a serious road accident in Udayamperoor. Many individuals were injured, bleeding heavily, and one person was in critical condition. By pure chance, Dr. Manoop was also at the scene.

Recognizing that the injured individual might not survive the wait for an ambulance or hospital treatment, the doctors made an immediate decision to intervene. Within just four minutes, Satheesan remarked, they managed to stabilize the victim and secure one life -- a testament to their professional skill and exceptional presence of mind.

Local residents and the police acted swiftly, creating space and providing basic assistance as the emergency procedure unfolded. Their collective efforts were instrumental in stabilizing the victim and facilitating further medical care.

Satheesan expressed that he was profoundly touched after learning about the incident and personally contacted the doctors to express his appreciation and gratitude.

“To save a life, to hold someone’s hand and bring them back to life, is a manifestation of divine grace,” he wrote, emphasizing that the doctors deserve the utmost recognition for exemplifying the highest values of the medical profession -- where humanity, bravery, and skill intersected on the roadside.
