New Delhi, Sep 30 (NationPress) During a dedicated campaign led by the Director General Medical Services (Army), a total of over Rs 18 crore in pending pension arrears has been successfully disbursed, as reported on Tuesday.

Lt Gen Sadhna Saxena Nair, head of the Directorate General of Medical Services (Army), stated, “Numerous veterans and their families were unaware they were entitled to arrears due to gaps in the legacy system. We have proactively reached out, verified their claims, and ensured they receive what is rightfully theirs.”

The Medical Personnel Record Section Officers [MPRS(O)] initiated this project to rectify pension discrepancies faced by veterans, their spouses, and the next of kin of Army Medical Corps, Army Dental Corps, and Military Nursing Services personnel, as indicated by the official.

As a result of these efforts, more than Rs 18 crore in pending pension arrears has been distributed, leading to a significant increase in monthly pensions.

This initiative specifically tackled overdue cases involving Liberalised Family Pension (LFP), Special Family Pension (SFP), monetary rewards for gallantry, and One Rank One Pension (OROP) adjustments. Veterans, widows, and family members are urged to check their status via the SPARSH portal or by contacting MPRS(O) through Defence Pension Liaison Centres.

Efforts were concentrated on resolving discrepancies in pension classifications, rates, and categories, particularly for families eligible under LFP, SFP, and OROP, as stated.

Over Rs 18 crore has been allocated to rightful beneficiaries, with the initiative focusing on identifying unaware beneficiaries through a compassionate outreach campaign that connected with veterans and their families who were previously uninformed of their dues.

Personalized Assistance Desks were established at the liaison cells of CDA Pune and CDA Allahabad to help families with documentation and expedite the disbursement process.

Moreover, Digital Transparency has been introduced to provide real-time status updates and grievance resolution mechanisms.

Previously, as part of the government’s flagship program ‘Swasth Naari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan’, the Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) conducted over 60 health camps, benefiting nearly 30,000 women, according to the official.

Medical camps aimed to provide specialized health check-ups and screenings for non-communicable diseases, including diabetes, hypertension, and cancers such as breast, cervical, and oral, as mentioned in the official statement.

A special focus has been placed on Maternal and Child Health Care, covering aspects like antenatal care, nutritional counseling, and immunization, as noted.

Additional health initiatives during the campaign included awareness drives on menstrual hygiene and sessions on adolescent health and nutrition for school children, in collaboration with various Service Headquarters and administrative bodies.
