Bengaluru, Oct 14 (NationPress) In response to the Congress-led government's move to potentially ban the activities of the Rastriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), supporters have initiated the 'I Love RSS' campaign in Karnataka's Mandya district on Tuesday. Volunteers displayed posters proclaiming 'I Love RSS' and chanted slogans, while also placing these posters on vehicles and shops to express their dissent against the government.
The campaign launch took place in front of the Mandya city Post Office, with posters emphasizing that those who support the RSS are patriots.
In reaction, MLC C.T. Ravi remarked that Minister Kharge appears to be attempting to maintain relevance by targeting the RSS.
BJP MLA S.R. Vishwanath accused the Congress's central leadership of giving Kharge a 'supari' (contract) to attack the RSS.
He cautioned, 'Priyank Kharge should tread carefully. He seems unaware of the RSS's strength, and the consequences of his actions could be unforeseen.'
Priyank Kharge had previously sent a letter to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, suggesting a ban on RSS activities in public areas and on school and college grounds, which stirred significant controversy.
Later, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah stated that he has instructed Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh to review the actions taken by the Tamil Nadu government against the RSS and to consider adopting similar measures in Karnataka.
He remarked, 'Minister Priyank Kharge has urged for actions similar to those in Tamil Nadu to prevent the RSS from utilizing government land. I have directed the Chief Secretary to investigate the Tamil Nadu situation and take necessary actions.'
On Tuesday, Priyank Kharge claimed he and his family have faced 'threats and abuse' over the past two days for questioning the RSS and advocating for a ban on its activities in public spaces.
