Chandigarh, July 25 (NationPress) Former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda claimed on Friday that no citizen within the state is truly safe under the BJP administration. He pointed to a tragic event where the son of a BJP leader was stabbed to death, highlighting the deteriorating law and order situation. “From MLAs to police personnel, everyone has been vulnerable to violence and threats. Even the families of BJP leaders are not exempt, as evidenced by the recent murder in Jind. This incident illustrates just how unsafe the average resident must feel,” he stated.
Hooda further noted that, prior to the Jind incident, a woman was brutally murdered in Rohtak. “The entire state is enveloped in fear due to the violence in places like Jind and Rohtak, as the government consistently fails to provide security to its citizens. Murder, robbery, dacoity, and extortion have become everyday occurrences, with the administration neglecting these serious issues,” he emphasized.
The former Chief Minister asserted that since the BJP assumed control, crime rates have been steadily increasing. “It seems as though the state is being governed not by elected officials but by criminal elements,” he remarked.
He referenced the Social Progress Index (SPI) report from the Prime Minister's Economic Advisory Council, which labels Haryana as the most dangerous state in India. According to the NCRB report, there were 1,020 murders in 2022, averaging three per day, alongside 1,786 reported rapes, roughly four to five incidents daily.
Hooda added that due to threats and extortion from criminals, the government struggled to secure contractors for 300 liquor vends across 12 districts, as these individuals faced open threats. “The criminals seem to dictate how the state is run,” he concluded.
