Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Wednesday offered a public tribute to the 19th-century Bengali Hindu saint Baba Lokenath Brahmachari on the occasion of his tirodhan diwas (death anniversary), invoking the saint's teachings on truth, service and righteousness in a Bengali-language message posted on X.

In his post, the Chief Minister wrote, 'Respectful salutations on the tirodhan diwas of Baba Lokenath Brahmachari.' He added that the saint's 'adhyatmik jibondarshan' (spiritual philosophy), sacrifice and service to humanity 'continue to inspire countless people even today to walk the path of truth, justice and dharma.' Saha closed with a prayer at the saint's feet for the welfare of all residents of the state, signing off with 'Jai Baba Lokenath.'

Baba Lokenath Brahmachari, who attained mahasamadhi in 1890, remains one of the most widely venerated saints among Bengali Hindus across West Bengal, Tripura, Bangladesh and the wider Bengali diaspora.
