Mumbai, Jan 23 (NationPress) Following the shocking incident where Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was attacked and severely injured in a knife assault at his home, the Mumbai Police is reportedly in possession of ‘clinching’ evidence that reveals the identity and nationality of the assailant.
Police teams delving into the incident uncovered a significant document on Friday that confirms the Bangladeshi roots of the suspect, Mohammad Shahzad.
The document, which includes a Bangladeshi ID and driving license, identifies him as Mohammad Shariful Islam Shahzad. His father’s name is Mohammad Ruhul Amin, and he is a 30-year-old national from Bangladesh.
The assailant reportedly broke into the actor’s residence with the intention of stealing, but when confronted by Saif Ali Khan, the situation escalated into violence.
Previously, the Mumbai Police held a press conference stating that he is indeed a Bangladeshi citizen who adopted a new name upon illegally entering India. He had been living in Mumbai for approximately six months under the alias Vijay Das.
On January 16, the suspect attacked Saif Ali Khan with a knife.
He was apprehended in Thane during the early hours of January 19.
So far, police have questioned over 50 individuals about the case and formed around 35 teams to track down the suspect.
Saif Ali Khan was assaulted inside his 12th-floor apartment located in the upscale Bandra area during a robbery attempt. He suffered multiple stab wounds and required two surgeries at Lilavati Hospital.
The attacker revealed to police that he stabbed the actor multiple times in the back to escape the actor’s hold.
On Thursday, Mohd Shehzad’s father spoke about his son’s reckless actions, stating that he departed Bangladesh in April this year, seeking better employment opportunities due to a perceived bleak future in his village.
