Mumbai, Jan 21 (NationPress) Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan, who recently had surgery following a brutal stabbing during a robbery attempt at his Bandra residence, is set to be released from the hospital on Tuesday afternoon.

According to the medical team at Lilavati Hospital, Saif Ali Khan is expected to be discharged later today. However, they advised that the actor should take additional time to recuperate.

On January 16, the actor sustained multiple stab wounds while attempting to fend off an intruder during the early hours of Thursday. He suffered six stab wounds, two of which are particularly serious as they are located near his spine.

The attack occurred at approximately 2:15 am when the intruder reportedly broke into their Bandra home, assaulted their house staff, and then attacked Saif when he intervened.

Reports indicate that doctors extracted a 2.5-inch blade from his injury. Following his surgery, the actor was moved to the ICU and is currently reported to be out of danger.

On January 20, the medical team decided that the actor would remain under observation for an additional day.

The Mumbai police have apprehended the suspect in Thane, who has been identified as a Bangladeshi national that entered India illegally.

The attacker, named Mohammed Shehzad, was a national-level wrestling champion in Bangladesh.

Previously, Shehzad claimed he did not recognize the actor's identity. He remains in police custody after appearing in the Bandra Court on Sunday.

Shehzad's assertion of being unaware of the actor's celebrity status aligns with the statement of the rickshaw driver, who also noted he did not realize he was transporting a Bollywood star to the hospital. The driver mentioned that the actor's older son, Taimur, from his marriage with Kareena Kapoor Khan, was with him at the police station.

During the incident, the actor's wife Kareena Kapoor Khan was at home with other family members, all of whom were asleep.
