A medical team overseeing Saif’s care spoke to reporters on Thursday. Dr. Nitin Dange, who participated in the surgery, stated, "Saif Ali Khan was admitted at 2:00 am. He suffered a significant injury to his spinal cord, specifically in the thoracic area, due to the knife embedded in his spine. Surgery was conducted to remove the knife and repair a leak in the spinal fluid. Additionally, two other severe wounds on his left hand and neck were treated by the plastic surgery team. He is now completely stable and recovering well."
The actor was stabbed multiple times while attempting to thwart a burglary during the early hours of Thursday. Reports indicate that he sustained six stab wounds, with two being particularly serious due to their proximity to his spine. The incident occurred at 2:15 am when the burglar allegedly broke into their Bandra residence, attacking the house help before assaulting Saif when he intervened.
At the time of the incident, his wife Kareena Kapoor Khan and other family members were asleep in the home. Saif was alerted by the noise coming from his son Jeh's room.
Upon entering the room, he found the intruder in a confrontation with the house help, prompting Saif to intervene and confront the assailant with his bare hands.
Afterward, the actor's team released an official statement confirming that he is stable and no longer in danger. He is under the watchful eye of a team of medical experts as he begins his recovery.
The official statement read, "Saif Ali Khan has successfully come out of surgery and is out of danger. He is currently recovering, and the doctors are monitoring his progress. All family members are safe, and the police are conducting an investigation into the incident."
Additionally, the statement expressed gratitude to Dr. Niraj Uttamani, Dr. Nitin Dange, Dr. Leena Jain, and the entire team at Lilavati Hospital. It also thanked fans and supporters for their prayers and thoughts during this challenging time.
