Patna, Nov 22 (NationPress) Following his appointment as Bihar's Home Minister, Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary has adopted a stringent approach towards ensuring law and order in the state.
Immediately after taking office on Saturday, he issued a strong warning to criminals, stating that no offender would escape justice and that the police have been granted full operational freedom.
Deputy CM Choudhary emphasized that law enforcement is now liberated and empowered to act decisively.
He reiterated that there is no room for criminals in Bihar and affirmed that the Home Ministry will operate under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
Good governance, he stated, was previously established and would be reinforced even more in the future.
He further asserted that the 'jungle raj' that had been abolished would not be permitted to make a comeback.
When questioned about his previous controversial comment regarding criminals in Bihar being cremated in Gaya, the Home Minister stated that the police are fulfilling their duties.
This transition marks the first occasion since 2005 that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has entrusted the Home Department to the BJP.
In the newly formed Cabinet, together with Nitish Kumar, 26 Ministers have been sworn in.
Samrat Choudhary holds dual roles as both Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister, while Vijay Kumar Sinha has also been appointed as the Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar.
He is responsible for the Revenue, Land Reforms, and Mining departments under the Nitish Kumar-led Bihar administration.
All NDA constituents have representation in the Bihar Cabinet.
The BJP has the largest presence in the state Cabinet with 14 Ministers, followed by Janata Dal-United with eight, Lok Janshakti Party-Ram Vilas with two, Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) with one, and Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) with one.
Despite having two Deputy CMs and 14 Ministers, the BJP's share of the assigned departmental budget is lower than that of JD-U.
Specifically, the BJP governs 29.22 percent of the total budget, while LJP-RV Ministers control 0.91 percent, HAM 0.58 percent, and RLM 3.56 percent.
Approximately 65 percent of the total budget remains under the control of JD-U.
