New Delhi, April 26 (NationPress) In a tragic incident on Saturday morning, six sanitation workers lost their lives and five others suffered serious injuries after a speeding pickup van collided with them while they were performing maintenance work on a section of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway near Ibrahim Bas village in Firozpur Jhirka, Nuh Haryana, police officials reported.
The unfortunate event took place around 10 a.m. as the workers were carrying out their routine duties along the expressway, a major high-speed route.
Authorities stated that the driver of the van fled the scene, leaving the vehicle behind at the accident site.
The force of the collision was reported to be particularly severe.
“Police teams are actively working to gather evidence and investigate the incident further,” stated Ajaib Singh, DSP of Firozpur Jhirka, noting that six women perished and five individuals were injured, including one male worker.
The injured victims were swiftly transported to Mandi Khera Hospital, where they are currently under medical care.
A senior police official indicated that, based on preliminary findings, five of the deceased were from Kheri Kalan village, while one was from Jhimrawat village. However, official identification is still in progress.
