Hyderabad, Jan 7 (NationPress) The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) is set to run 6,431 special bus services for passengers during the Sankranti festival season, implementing a 50% fare increase for these services.

The announcement was made on Wednesday, detailing that the special bus operations will occur on January 9, 10, 12, 13, 18, and 19.

TGSRTC has confirmed its full readiness to safely transport individuals heading back to their hometowns for Sankranti.

Special buses will be deployed from busy locations in Hyderabad, including MGBS, JBS, Uppal Cross Roads, Aramghar, LB Nagar Cross Roads, KPHB, Boyinpally, Gachibowli, and others.

To assist passengers, the corporation will establish tents, seating areas, public address systems, drinking water stations, and mobile toilets in these regions.

In response to major festivals and significant occasions, the RTC management consistently provides special services to ensure smooth transportation and safe arrivals for travelers.

The TGSRTC management reminded that in 2003, the state government permitted fare adjustments to accommodate minimum diesel costs and maintenance for these festival buses.

This fare revision, allowing up to 1.5 times the standard fare, is exclusive to special services during festivals and important events.

TGSRTC has maintained this practice for all significant festivals since its inception.

Additionally, as part of the state government's Mahalaxmi scheme, women can continue to enjoy free travel on Palle Velugu, Express, City Ordinary, and Metro Express buses during Sankranti.

Many families in Hyderabad travel back to their hometowns within Telangana and neighboring Andhra Pradesh to celebrate Sankranti.

On a related note, the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) has also announced the operation of 8,432 special buses during Sankranti, with 6,000 of those serving within Andhra Pradesh and 2,432 on inter-state routes to Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Chennai.

With an anticipated increase in passenger movement this year towards district headquarters, mandal towns, and villages, APSRTC is focusing on bolstering state services.

In alignment with the Stree Shakthi free bus travel scheme for women, APSRTC has updated its special service plans for the Sankranti festival.

The APSRTC schedule includes 3,857 special services before the festival, with 3,500 on intra-state routes and additional services to Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Chennai.

Post-Sankranti, 4,575 special services will be available, including 2,500 within the state and significant routes to Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Chennai.
