Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Denies Dubai Property Allegations as Misinformation
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Guwahati, April 6 (NationPress) Assam's Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, vehemently dismissed accusations suggesting his family has ties to property ownership in Dubai, labeling these allegations as entirely false and indicative of a misinformation strategy orchestrated by the Congress party.
In a message posted on X, Sarma asserted that the documents circulating online—allegedly displaying Dubai property title deeds associated with his family—were fabricated and filled with discrepancies.
“Unmasking another deception of #CongFakeAICampaign. The Dubai property title deeds have been proven FAKE with clear inconsistencies and lack of legitimate records,” he expressed.
The Chief Minister emphasized that there is no legitimate documentation to substantiate these claims and urged individuals to verify the details through Dubai’s official land records portal.
He maintained that all assertions regarding this matter have been thoroughly disproven.
Sarma also issued a firm warning, noting that legal action would be pursued against those disseminating what he referred to as misleading and defamatory information.
“All their falsehoods have been exposed. Legal action will ensue,” he stated.
This controversy arises amidst a fierce political clash between the ruling BJP and the opposition Congress in Assam.
Congress figures, such as Gaurav Gogoi and Pawan Khera, have recently questioned the purported foreign assets and connections of the Chief Minister’s family, including allegations about properties in Dubai and foreign documents.
These claims have been firmly denied by Sarma and his family.
Previously, Sarma's wife, Riniki Bhuyan Sarma, also dismissed allegations of any foreign business interests or assets, branding the accusations as unfounded.
The BJP has accused the Congress of engaging in “dirty politics” and orchestrating a smear campaign ahead of crucial electoral events in the state, while the opposition insists it is advocating for transparency and accountability.
As Sarma now asserts that the questioned documents are fraudulent and hints at legal actions, the political strife between the factions is expected to escalate further in the upcoming days.
