Mumbai, Feb 23 (NationPress) The State Bank of India (SBI) has set an ambitious goal to achieve Net-Zero emissions by the year 2055, coinciding with the bank's centenary celebrations, announced SBI Chairman Challa Sreenivasulu Setty on Sunday.
Setty made this significant declaration during the 'SBI Green Marathon Season 5' event, which he inaugurated, featuring over 10,000 runners serving as 'Green India' ambassadors in various categories including 5km, 10km, and 21km.
Since its launch in 2018, the SBI Green Marathon has evolved into a representation of the bank's strong commitment to India's 'Mission LiFE' -- 'Lifestyle for Environment', highlighting its enduring dedication to a sustainable future.
In a remarkable exhibition of stamina, participants shone across different race categories, with top finishers awarded cash prizes of Rs 15,000, Rs 10,000, and Rs 7,000 for the 21km race, and Rs 10,000, Rs 7,000, and Rs 5,000 for the 10km event.
The marathon's certification by AIMS (Association of International Marathons and Distance Races) provided participants with global recognition within the marathon circuit.
To inspire all attendees, renowned runners such as Vinod Kumar Sharma, Barun Kumar, Vishak Krishnaswamy, and Ashish Arya were present.
Moreover, the participation of the Indian Navy, Indian Air Force, and Indian Army was a highlight of the event.
Following Mumbai, the SBI Green Marathon will proceed to Jaipur on February 16, Bhopal on March 2, and will conclude in Delhi on March 9, 2025.
As part of its Season 5 journey across 12 cities, the SBI Green Marathon has already been conducted in Visakhapatnam, Lucknow, Chandigarh, Ahmedabad, Pune, Guwahati, Bhubaneswar, and Patna.
