Ongoing Search for Missing Prince: No Leads Found in Delhi-Mumbai Expressway Digging
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Jaipur, March 5 (NationPress) The quest for Prince, also known as Tillu, who disappeared from Ramdeva’s Dhani in Unbara village six years ago, remains fruitless. Following a 12-day search operation on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway aimed at locating his remains, police have yet to uncover any tangible evidence in the matter.
The excavation work, which began on March 1, was halted on Wednesday, but law enforcement officials continue to monitor the area. Prior to the digging, the site was thoroughly surveyed, with the aid of drones.
Moreover, the 15-day police remand for suspects Anil and Krishna has concluded. Throughout the investigation, excavations were performed at multiple locations identified via drone surveys and Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) technology. By comparing a 2020 drone report with the recent survey, two to three locations were flagged as highly sensitive. In the initial phase of the operation, the asphalt layer of the highway was removed using a milling machine. Subsequently, excavation was carried out using JCB machines across a stretch of about 80-100 meters, with a width of around four meters and depths reaching up to 12 feet.
Special vigilance was maintained at all suspected sites, particularly the area near a Peepal tree, which was flagged during the survey. Police teams are persistently analyzing the excavated soil.
Sources reveal that the machinery employed for excavation costs approximately Rs 10,500 hourly in rent and consumes around 20 litres of diesel per hour. The total expenditure for the operation thus far is estimated between Rs 50 lakh and Rs 60 lakh. Excavation efforts also took place at night, illuminated by floodlights.
Additional Superintendent of Police Yogendra Faujdar and Station House Officer Zaheer Abbas are closely supervising the operation. During the excavation, two lanes of the expressway were temporarily shut down, while traffic persisted in the remaining three lanes.
Meanwhile, Jagmohan Bairwa, Prince's father, expressed deep emotion upon arriving at the excavation site. He stated that finding his son's remains would allow the family to perform his last rites in accordance with Hindu traditions.
After 12 days of relentless efforts without any breakthrough, the family is increasingly disheartened, but they continue to cling to hope for closure in this long-standing case.
As per police reports, six-year-old Prince, also known as Tillu, vanished from his home on August 16, 2020. For an extended period, investigators struggled to find any meaningful leads. Frustrated by the stagnation, the family filed a habeas corpus petition in the High Court. Following the court’s stringent orders, police escalated their investigation and eventually apprehended a neighbor—allegedly a family relative—and his sister in connection with the case.
It has also come to light that the accused remained close to the victim’s family for years to avoid drawing suspicion.
In response to the confession from the suspects about burying the child along the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, police initiated a comprehensive search operation, including excavation activities to recover the remains.
Despite employing advanced technologies like drone surveys and GPR, the body has not yet been discovered.
The failure to recover the remains, despite multiple technical indications, poses a significant challenge for investigators, according to officials.
