Unnao (Uttar Pradesh), May 28 (NationPress) The lifeless body of a 27-year-old medical store operator, who had been unaccounted for over five days, was discovered within a drainage pipe along the under-construction Ganga Expressway in Uttar Pradesh's Unnao district, authorities reported on Wednesday.
The deceased, Ankit, the son of Ram Jeevan from Haraipur village under the jurisdiction of Behtamujawer police station, had left home last Friday evening after receiving a phone call.
His family filed a missing person report with the police the next day when he failed to return by night.
The breakthrough came when local children detected a foul odor near a pipe at the construction site of the Ganga Expressway and alerted nearby villagers, who subsequently notified the police.
A team led by Circle Officer Arvind Chaurasia and officers from Behtamujawer police station arrived at the scene after the information was received.
The body was found approximately 20 metres inside a 150-metre-long pipe designated for drainage.
It was in a state of decomposition and was identified by family members summoned by the police. Authorities suspect that Ankit's body was disposed of there following his murder.
