The body of an 11-year-old girl was recovered from inside a sack in Surjyapur Haat area of Baruipur on Sunday, a day after she was reported missing. The discovery sparked widespread protests, with angry residents blocking roads, setting tyres on fire, and vandalising police vehicles while demanding swift action against those responsible.

The situation escalated further when a mob allegedly lynched a man accused of involvement in the crime. Police have so far arrested four people in connection with the girl's death, and the investigation is reportedly continuing.
