Raipur, Oct 14 (NationPress) In a decisive step against insurgent activities, a collaborative security operation has resulted in the discovery of a significant stockpile of explosive materials and components for weapon manufacturing that were concealed by Maoist rebels in the Karregutta Hills (KGH) area, as reported by officials on Tuesday.

The operation, which took place on October 13 and was led by a joint team from CoBRA and CRPF battalions, commenced from the Tadpala base camp early in the morning. By afternoon, the search team unearthed a hidden cache believed to be part of a broader Maoist strategy aimed at targeting security forces and creating instability in the region.

Among the items recovered were 51 live BGLs (Bore Grenade Launchers), 100 bundles of high-tension aluminium wire, 50 steel pipes, 20 iron sheets, and 40 iron plates—materials typically utilized in the assembly of BGLs.

Additionally, a large quantity of electrical wiring was discovered, further demonstrating the magnitude and sophistication of the planned assaults. The operation also uncovered five pressure Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), strategically placed by Maoists with the aim of ambushing security personnel and causing casualties.

Thanks to the prompt action and technical proficiency of the accompanying Bomb Disposal (BD) team, all five IEDs were successfully neutralized without any incidents.

Officials involved in the operation have verified that the recovered materials indicate a well-coordinated offensive by Maoist insurgents.

The extensive volume and diversity of the items suggest preparations for a large-scale attack, potentially targeting multiple security installations or patrol units in the vicinity. The timely intervention by the joint task force has certainly prevented a major crisis.

As a result, security forces have intensified patrolling and surveillance operations in and around the KGH Foothills to ensure the area remains secure and to thwart any resurgence of Maoist activities.

The success of this operation highlights the critical importance of coordinated intelligence and rapid response in counterinsurgency efforts. Authorities remain vigilant, and additional search missions are anticipated in the upcoming days to eliminate any lingering threats.
