Raipur, Jan 14 (NationPress) The Bijapur district in Chhattisgarh recently experienced two pivotal anti-Maoist operations, where security forces successfully unearthed several Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and a Maoist cache in distinct efforts undertaken within the jurisdictions of the Bhopalpatnam and Madded police stations. These actions underline the ongoing vigilance and proactive strategies of the security forces against Maoist threats in the area.

In the first operation, personnel from the Madded police station, in collaboration with the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS), identified and retrieved two command IEDs, each weighing 10 kilograms. The devices had been strategically placed along the Somnapalli–Bandepara dirt road by Maoists, aiming to target security convoys and hinder movement. Acting promptly and carefully, the police and BDS team neutralized the danger by safely collecting the explosives. Subsequently, the BDS team from Bijapur destroyed the devices in situ, strictly following safety protocols to ensure no harm came to personnel or civilians.

Concurrently, under the Bhopalpatnam police station jurisdiction, a joint team from Camp Kandalaparti-2, consisting of members from the Keripu 214 Battalion and district force, initiated a search and de-mining operation within the Kondapadgu forest area. During this endeavor, the team recovered two pressure IEDs, each weighing 2 kilograms. These explosives were promptly destroyed at the location by the Keripu 214 BDD team, averting potential injuries and damages.

Additionally, during the search in Kondapadgu, security forces stumbled upon two white drums buried underground, containing ration supplies stockpiled by Maoists to support their cadres in the forested landscape. The recovery of these supplies significantly undermines the logistical capabilities of the Maoists in the region.

Officials noted that these recoveries highlight the efficacy of ongoing anti-Maoist initiatives and the unwavering resolve of security forces to dismantle insurgent infrastructures. Continuous surveillance and combing operations are being conducted to ensure the safety of local communities and to mitigate Maoist influence in sensitive areas of Bijapur.

The successful neutralization of these explosives and the seizure of Maoist resources reinforce the commitment of security forces to uphold peace and security. Authorities reiterated that stringent monitoring of Maoist activities will persist, with intensified efforts to thwart any attempts to disrupt law and order in the district.
