Seven Maoists Killed in Clash with Police in Telangana

Hyderabad, Dec 1 (NationPress) Seven Maoists lost their lives in a significant clash with police forces in Telangana's Mulugu district on Sunday morning.
The confrontation occurred in the Chalapaka forest area of Eturnagaram mandal around 5:30 a.m., involving the elite anti-Maoist unit known as Greyhounds.
Authorities believe that several prominent leaders of the Communist Party of India (Maoist) were among those who died in the exchange.
The shootout commenced when Greyhounds operatives, who were engaged in combing the forest, encountered a group of Maoists and instructed them to surrender. Instead of complying, the Maoists opened fire, prompting the Greyhounds to retaliate.
No immediate reports indicated any injuries among the police personnel.
It is suspected that Badru, a high-ranking Maoist leader and secretary of the Yellandu-Narasampeta Area Committee of the CPI (Maoist), was among those killed.
The deceased Maoists have been identified as Kursam Mangu alias Badru alias Papanna (35), Egolapu Mallaiah alias Madhu (43), Mussaki Deval alias Karunakar (22), Jai Singh (25), Kishore (22), Kamesh (23), and Mussaki Jamuna (23).
Law enforcement recovered two AK-47 rifles along with other firearms and explosives from the encounter site. Senior police officials were dispatched to the scene promptly.
This incident marks the first significant encounter in Mulugu district in several years and comes during a period when the banned outfit has been attempting to re-establish its presence in the area.
Recently, the district had witnessed Maoist activity, with an incident on November 21 where two individuals were brutally murdered on suspicion of being police informants.
The victims were identified as Uika Ramesh and Uika Arjun, with Ramesh serving as the secretary of Peruru Gram Panchayat in the same mandal.
A note was found near the victims' bodies, accusing Ramesh and Arjun of gathering intelligence for the Special Intelligence Bureau (SIB), the state police's elite anti-Maoist unit.
