Bhopal, March 18 (NationPress) A total of seven individuals, comprising three women and four children, have gone missing following the capsizing of a boat carrying devotees in the Mata Tila Dam, situated in the Khaniyadhana police station area of Madhya Pradesh's Shivpuri district on Tuesday evening, according to police reports.

The incident took place approximately 110 km from the district headquarters.

This dam, constructed on the Betwa river in Uttar Pradesh, also shares its border with Madhya Pradesh.

The district administration has initiated a rescue operation at the scene.

As of now, eight individuals have been safely evacuated.

Fifteen residents of Rajavan village were en route to visit the Siddha Baba temple, located on an island within the dam, when the boat unexpectedly lost its balance and capsized.

Many passengers began to drown as a result.

Local villagers acted quickly and managed to rescue seven individuals, but the whereabouts of three women and four children remain unknown.

"A boat carrying 15 people, including women and children, capsized in Matatila Dam near Rajawan village, Khaniyadhana, while heading to an island for Holi celebrations. Seven individuals, which include three women and four children, are presumed drowned, while eight others managed to swim to safety," stated Pichhore Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Shivdayal Dhakad, confirming the incident.

"Two boats are currently searching for the missing individuals, but none have been located so far," said Prashant Sharma, the Sub-Divisional Officer of Police (SDOP) in Pichhore, who is present at the scene.

Divers are being utilized to aid in the search for the missing persons.

The NDRF team is also actively participating in the rescue efforts.

According to police, the operation is becoming increasingly challenging due to dwindling daylight.

The missing individuals include Sharda (55), wife of Imarat Lodhi; Kumkum (15), daughter of Anoop Lodhi; Leela (40), wife of Ramnivas Lodhi; China (14), daughter of Lakshniram Lodhi; Kanha (7), son of Captain Lodhi; Ramdevi (35), wife of Bhura Lodhi; and Shiva (8), son of Bhura Lodhi.

The police have yet to locate them.

All missing individuals are from Rajavan village, who were on their way to visit the Siddha Baba temple.

Upon receiving news of the incident, Shivpuri's District Collector Ravindra Chaudhary and Superintendent of Police, Aman Singh Rathore proceeded to the location with their teams.

Those who were rescued include Shivraj Lodhi, Savitri Lodhi, Jhanson, Gulab, Leela, Ramdevi, Usha, and Pradeep Lodhi.
