Bhopal, April 26 (NationPress) Tragically, three young children lost their lives on Saturday while enjoying a bath in the waters of Amua Dam, situated within the jurisdiction of Dharkundi police station in Satna district.

The young victims, identified as Abhijeet Kol (6), Abhi Kol (5), and Krishna Kol (5), were all residents of Kandaila village, and they drowned after straying into the dam's deeper waters.

Villagers quickly notified the authorities, leading to the swift recovery of their bodies.

Upon receiving the tragic news, Majhgawan Tehsildar Somesh Dwivedi, along with Dharkundi police station in-charge Shailendra Singh and a police team, arrived at the scene to offer assistance.

The officials pledged their support to the grieving families and provided financial aid of Rs 25,000 to each bereaved family, courtesy of the Red Cross.

After completing necessary legal procedures, the children's bodies were sent for a post-mortem examination, according to police reports.

Initially, four children had gone to the dam for a bath. While one remained on the embankment, the other three ventured into the water, tragically beginning to drown.

The child on the embankment ran two kilometers back to the village for assistance, but the delay was fatal, as the three children could not be rescued after being submerged for an extended time.

Bathing and fishing in the dam is a common activity among tribal villagers from nearby areas.

This incident reflects a worrying trend in the region, with frequent reports of minors drowning in ponds, dams, and canals.

A similar tragedy occurred on April 13 in Richul village, Nagaud area, where three young sisters tragically drowned in a rainwater-filled pit created by illegal mining activities.

The victims were identified as Tanya (8) and 5-year-old twins Jhanvi and Gauri, who were siblings. The unattended pit became a deadly trap.

Similar incidents have also been documented in Mauganj, Sidhi, and Shivpuri districts, emphasizing the urgent need for preventive measures.

Local communities have expressed their concerns and urged the government to take proactive measures to prevent further tragedies.
