Amit Shah: Assam's Choice for NDA Re-Election to Safeguard Culture
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Guwahati, April 3 (NationPress) Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah emphasized on Friday that the citizens of Assam have collectively chosen to re-elect the NDA to preserve the state’s rich culture, unique identity, and promising future, during a pivotal rally in Dudhnoi, located in the Goalpara district.
In front of a passionate audience, HM Shah launched a fierce critique of the Congress party, accusing them of exploiting the tragedies of Assamese youth for their own political gain and perpetuating instability in the region over the years. He contrasted this with the BJP-led administration's dedication to fostering peace, having signed numerous accords and successfully integrating nearly 10,000 youth into the mainstream by encouraging them to surrender their weapons.
Taking a firm stance against illegal immigration, he claimed that the Congress had transformed Assam into a hotspot for infiltrators. “We have pinpointed all infiltrators. Give us five more years, and we will eliminate every single one of them,” he declared, eliciting enthusiastic applause from the attendees.
Shah detailed various welfare initiatives, promising that every district in Assam would establish a large dairy farm and that households within tribal communities would receive assistance in livestock.
“This is not merely an election promise. As the Cooperation Minister, I assure you this will be fulfilled,” he stated.
He also acknowledged Prime Minister Narendra Modi for elevating tribal culture on a global stage, contrasting it with what he described as Congress’s indifference towards indigenous communities.
Touching upon the election of Droupadi Murmu as President, Shah noted that it symbolizes the NDA’s commitment to empowering tribal communities.
Reflecting on his involvement with the Assam movement during the early 1990s, HM Shah accused the Congress administration of transforming the state into a battleground.
He further emphasized the BJP government’s advancements in education, including the introduction of primary education in six tribal languages and the recognition of Assamese as a classical language.
Regarding the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), Shah pledged that the BJP would apply it in Assam while ensuring that tribal communities are not affected, accusing the Congress of spreading falsehoods to incite fear among indigenous populations.
He also listed cultural initiatives undertaken by the NDA government, such as honoring Assamese icons, erecting memorials for martyrs of the Assam Agitation, and securing UNESCO heritage status for Charaideo Maidam.
Encouraging voters to again support the BJP-led coalition under Prime Minister Modi and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Shah asserted that the NDA embodies peace, development, and the safeguarding of Assam’s identity.
