Amit Shah Promises BJP Victory in Assam to Eradicate Infiltration
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Guwahati, April 7 (NationPress) Union Home Minister Amit Shah fiercely criticized the Congress party during a large election rally in Patharkandi, located in Assam’s Sribhumi district. He emphasized that only the BJP is capable of defending the state against illegal infiltration and maintaining its cultural identity.
Shah stated that the BJP administration has already pinpointed infiltrators and pledged to eradicate them “one by one” if re-elected.
He accused these illegal migrants of usurping jobs, ration benefits, and wages that should belong to the local youth, impoverished families, and tea garden laborers.
“With the BJP-NDA governments in Assam, West Bengal, and Tripura, we will completely halt infiltration,” he proclaimed.
Addressing the Congress, Shah charged that the party is engaged in “vote bank politics” by siding with infiltrators.
He pointed out that previous Congress administrations undermined legal protections, notably by repealing the Immigrants (Expulsion from Assam) Act of 1950 and implementing the IMDT Act in 1983, which he argues provided refuge to illegal migrants.
Shah also condemned the Congress for opposing the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), asserting that it is essential for the protection of persecuted minorities.
The Home Minister reiterated that the BJP is dedicated to renaming Karimganj as “Sribhumi,” honoring the region’s cultural legacy.
Targeting Rahul Gandhi personally, Shah claimed that the Congress under his leadership has diminished in public discourse and vowed that they would not be allowed to transform Assam into an “infiltration-prone state.”
Referring to recent comments made by Congress leaders, the Union Home Minister accused them of disrespecting BJP supporters and Gujarat, stating that such remarks contradict democratic values.
He asserted that the BJP is committed to safeguarding Assam’s land, identity, and economic interests, urging voters to dismiss what he labeled as Congress’ divisive and appeasement-driven politics.
Shah concluded by declaring that Assam is poised to deliver a significant victory to the BJP to eliminate infiltration.
