Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Patna, March 5 (NationPress) Union Home Minister Amit Shah, on Thursday, lauded the remarkable leadership of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, whose governance has spanned two decades. This commendation came as Kumar submitted his nomination papers for his next political endeavor, transitioning from the Legislature to the Parliament, while signaling a potential leadership transition in the state.
Amit Shah referred to Nitish Kumar as the 'savior of the underprivileged' and acknowledged his role in liberating Bihar from the 'shadows of Jungle Raj'.
The comments were made shortly after the two leaders greeted each other, with Shah accompanying Kumar during the filing of his nomination papers for the Upper House elections.
Union Home Minister Shah asserted, 'Over the last twenty years, the Nitish administration's unwavering dedication to the welfare of Bihar's populace has liberated the state from the grips of jungle raj and set it on a path of progress and exemplary governance.'
On his official X account, Shah also posted photographs of Nitish Kumar submitting his Rajya Sabha nomination with him by his side.
Shah remarked, 'Your vast experience in public service and profound grasp of policy-making will enhance the efficiency of Rajya Sabha discussions. Your esteemed presence will further bolster the NDA's commitment to 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas.'
Nitish Kumar filed his Rajya Sabha nomination on Thursday, accompanied by BJP President Nitin Nabin, former Agiaon MLA and BJP figure Shivesh Kumar, Union Minister Ram Nath Thakur, and Upendra Kushwaha – an NDA candidate whose nomination was finalized at the last minute following extensive discussions among the BJP and its allies.
Nitish Kumar's exit from Bihar politics signifies the 'conclusion of an era', although this change will be officially recognized only after the Rajya Sabha elections conclude by March 16.
Since 2005, Nitish Kumar has held the position of Bihar Chief Minister for a record ten terms, with a brief interruption when Jitan Ram Manjhi was selected to head the state government following the JD-U's setback in the 2014 Parliamentary elections.
In a heartfelt statement, Nitish Kumar expressed gratitude to the citizens for their trust and promised to continue working diligently towards the development of Bihar.
