Mumbai, Oct 2 (NationPress) Shiv Sena's prominent leader and Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde launched a fierce critique against his predecessor and current Shiv Sena UBT chief Uddhav Thackeray, asserting that he does not prioritize the care of ironed clothes and is accustomed to traveling in a vanity van.
During the Dussehra rally at the Nesco Centre in Goregaon, Shinde addressed Thackeray's remarks concerning his image on relief packets distributed to flood victims. He noted that the opposition merely focuses on images, overlooking the genuine contents behind them.
“The Shiv Sena is dedicated to alleviating the suffering of those affected by the floods. We have distributed 26 essential items ranging from wheat, rice, dal, sugar to sarees and blankets to our beloved sisters. Did you even provide a single biscuit?” he inquired, mocking Thackeray.
“It is gratifying to see our activists assisting during the flood crisis and sharing their photos. Why is there so much criticism? What will the photographer capture? Not even pictures. Some individuals come and go, making a spectacle. But before we departed, our first aid truck was already on its way, then I followed. This is our approach,” he commented while critiquing Thackeray's recent visit to the flood-impacted regions and his persistent criticism of the state government.
Shinde further ridiculed Thackeray, asserting that he is not a Shiv Sainik functioning from home. “I am not someone who works from home and does Facebook Live sessions,” he suggested, indicating that Thackeray lacks substantial on-ground involvement.
“Balasaheb used to state that a Shiv Sainik should be seen helping during a crisis and at the doorsteps of the people,” he remarked.
“Today, we observe that Baliraja (farmers) are in distress. There are tears in their eyes, their sorrow is immense. Their agricultural produce has been destroyed, crops lost, livestock swept away, and homes have collapsed. I visited the fields, witnessing their plight firsthand. In this dire situation, we must extend a helping hand. Balasaheb Thackeray taught us that 80% of social work is vital, and 20% is politics, and we have never strayed from this principle. Numerous Shiv Sainiks are assisting flood-stricken farmers and villagers. Relief trucks are reaching various affected regions,” Shinde asserted.
He also mentioned that in previous instances of drought or flood, Shiv Sainiks had provided food grains, water, and fodder to farmers.
“Wherever a crisis arises, Shiv Sena is present. In times of disaster, Eknath Shinde will not hesitate to be there. The foundation of assistance is a core principle of Shiv Sena. Whenever disaster strikes, Shiv Sena is swift to help,” he emphasized.
Shinde called on party members to prioritize aiding farmers over attending rallies, stressing that the focus should be on serving the community rather than displaying strength.
He concluded by promising that he will not allow flood victims to experience a bleak Diwali; assistance will arrive before the festival.
