Davanagere, March 2 (NationPress) Congress MLA Basavaraju V. Shivaganga asserted on Sunday that Karnataka's Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar is set to take over as the Chief Minister by December.

While speaking to the press in Davanagere, MLA Basavaraju emphasized, "You (media) can note this—Shivakumar will become the CM by December. It is inevitable. If anyone doubts, I can write it in my blood. Once he assumes office, his performance will be so exemplary that he will lead the party to victory in the next assembly elections and serve a full term as CM."

MLA Basavaraju Shivaganga continued to affirm that Shivakumar will lead as Chief Minister for the next 7.5 years, commencing in December. He further stated that under Shivakumar’s guidance, the Congress party is likely to secure triumph in the forthcoming assembly elections.

According to him, Shivakumar has made significant contributions to the party, and his efforts have led to a commendable performance in both state assembly and Lok Sabha elections.

“I will support Shivakumar under all conditions. We are confident that the Congress leadership will appoint him as CM. Thanks to Shivakumar’s dedication, 75 to 80 first-time MLAs were elected to the state Assembly. He is vital for the party's future. Therefore, we will urge the high command to grant him this prestigious role,” he stated.

“It is our right to demand the CM position for Shivakumar. He (Shivakumar) will take charge as CM with backing from Congress MLAs. The high command needs to act against Minister for Cooperation K.N. Rajanna, who has made derogatory remarks about Shivakumar,” he said.

Basavaraju Shivaganga also called on the party leadership to impose disciplinary measures against Minister Rajanna, asserting that his comments have harmed the party's reputation.

Meanwhile, former Union Minister Veerappa Moily, during a party event in Udupi on Sunday, stated that no one can obstruct Shivakumar from becoming the Chief Minister. Moily made this remark in Shivakumar’s presence, reinforcing that the decision to appoint Shivakumar as CM has already been finalized.

"I was the one who provided Shivakumar with the party ticket for his first MLA election. He has developed into a successful political leader, and it brings me great joy," Moily said.

Moily advised Shivakumar, "Shivakumar, you should remain unresponsive to provocations. There will be negative comments directed at you, but do not let it concern you."
