Shivraj Chouhan launches PMGSY-IV in MP: 973 roads, ₹18,907 crore allocation

Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is set to launch the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana-IV (PMGSY-IV) and attend the scheme's silver jubilee celebrations in Sehore district, Madhya Pradesh, on Sunday, 11 May 2025. The event marks one of the largest single-day rural infrastructure announcements for the state, covering 973 roads across 2,117 km.

Key Announcements at the Sehore Event

According to an official statement, Chouhan will hand over sanction letters and financial approvals for 973 roads covering 2,117 km under PMGSY-IV. The projects are expected to benefit 987 habitations across Madhya Pradesh. Additionally, road projects covering more than 384 km under the PM-JANMAN scheme will be announced for 168 backward habitations in the state.

Chouhan is also expected to announce an indicative PMGSY allocation of ₹18,907 crore for 2026-27, of which ₹830 crore has been earmarked specifically for Madhya Pradesh. This comes as the Centre seeks to deepen rural connectivity ahead of the next financial cycle.

Who Will Attend

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav will be present at the programme alongside Union Ministers of State Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani and Kamlesh Paswan, and state Rural Development Minister Prahlad Singh Patel. The gathering signals strong political backing from both the Centre and the state government for the rural roads initiative.
