Bengaluru, Jan 14 (NationPress) Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has expressed his willingness to sacrifice for the party amidst rising concerns regarding infighting and discussions surrounding power-sharing within the state’s Congress unit, as reported on Monday.

During a pivotal meeting led by General Secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala at Bharat Jodo Bhavan in Bengaluru, CM Siddaramaiah's comments are anticipated to spark renewed debates in the state's political landscape.

Insiders suggest that the phrase 'ready to sacrifice' may also serve as a strategic maneuver by CM Siddaramaiah to address the ongoing conversation about a potential leadership change.

The Chief Minister emphasized that numerous party leaders have made significant sacrifices.

He specifically highlighted the sacrifices of senior party figures like Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, urging that all members should be prepared to make sacrifices when necessary.

Siddaramaiah asserted, 'The Congress is the sole party capable of instigating change, while the BJP aims for the status quo. The JD-S lacks any ideological foundation.'

Meanwhile, Surjewala criticized the trend of 'dinner party meetings' among state leaders, advising that such gatherings should be avoided.

'If such situations arise, leaders must seek permission from the high command', he stated.

Surjewala also urged party members to refrain from making public statements that could harm the party.

Instead, he encouraged leaders to focus their criticisms on the BJP.

He invited legislators to discuss any issues of contention internally, stating, 'Leaders can also address concerns with the Chief Minister and Deputy CM.'

Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, who also leads the state Congress unit, expressed his confidence in returning the party to power and urged leaders to rally behind him, affirming, 'I am a dedicated Congress member, regardless of circumstances.'

Earlier on Monday, Surjewala remarked that both Karnataka's CM Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM Shivakumar are 'focused like Arjun', asserting that there is no internal discord within the party's state unit.

At a press conference, Surjewala stated: 'Our party leaders, including Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar, are laser-focused on their objectives. Their goal is to effectively implement the guarantee schemes and manage the government proficiently. The BJP is unnecessarily criticizing these schemes to sow confusion among the populace.'
