Haveri (Karnataka), May 4 (NationPress) Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah stated on Sunday that the formation of a special force is essential for identifying and addressing anti-social elements.
During a press conference held at the N.D.P.U. College in Akki Alur, Haveri district, he discussed the government's initiative to establish a task force aimed at curbing violence in the commonly sensitive coastal region of the state. He mentioned that he would consult with Home Minister G. Parameshwara to take necessary actions.
The city of Mangaluru has recently experienced alarming incidents including mob lynching and the murder of a Hindu activist, raising serious concerns about law and order.
When questioned about allegations that the compensation of Rs 25 lakh given by the Congress-led government to the family of the deceased Fazil Mohammad was misappropriated to finance the murder of Hindu activist Suhas Shetty, CM Siddaramaiah admitted he lacks information on this issue.
Investigations into the Shetty murder have indicated that Fazil's brother may have been involved in funding the crime. There are suspicions that he might have used the Rs 25 lakh compensation from the Congress-led government to retaliate against Fazil's murder.
Fazil was killed by the Shetty-led group in revenge for the murder of BJP worker Praveen Kumar Nettaru in 2022, amid the ongoing hijab controversy.
Siddaramaiah noted that Home Minister Parameshwara and Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao, who oversees Mangaluru district, have visited the area where the incident occurred, and he will provide further comments after consulting with them.
In response to inquiries about potential special events to mark the government's two-year anniversary, the Chief Minister announced a two-year achievement program in Vijayanagara district.
He criticized those who previously accused him of fostering divisions through the caste census, stating, "Now the same individuals are embracing the caste census initiated by the Central government. It’s as if sacred water becomes holy only if it emerges from a conch! These individuals made unfounded political statements, making their hypocrisy evident now."
Regarding former Prime Minister Deve Gowda’s claims that the Congress is exhibiting double standards on Pakistan, Siddaramaiah countered, "What was Deve Gowda claiming about Prime Minister Narendra Modi before allying with the BJP, and what is his stance now? It’s Deve Gowda who is demonstrating double standards."
