Belagavi (Karnataka), Oct 3 (NationPress) The Leader of the Opposition in the Karnataka Assembly, R. Ashoka, stated on Friday that the power-sharing deal between Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar is "completely accurate" and noted that disputes have already begun within the ruling Congress party in the state.
Speaking to reporters prior to his visit to the flood-affected areas in Belagavi, Ashoka reiterated his forecast of a "November revolution," predicting that Siddaramaiah would soon be the "outgoing CM."
"I have maintained that a revolution will occur in November, resulting in Siddaramaiah becoming the outgoing CM. I stand by my prediction. A change will happen between November and December," he asserted.
The BJP leader pointed out the alleged marginalization of Minister K.N. Rajanna, a firm supporter of Siddaramaiah, who has been vocal against Shivakumar.
"The power-sharing deal is absolutely true, and conflicts have already erupted," Ashoka remarked.
He further suggested that neither the Chief Minister nor his deputy would willingly give up their aspirations for the top position.
"CM Siddaramaiah is not likely to relinquish his role. That is not his nature... Likewise, Dy CM D.K. Shivakumar will persist in his quest for the position," Ashoka commented.
When asked about the potential for a political shift akin to the Eknath Shinde faction of the Shiv Sena collaborating with the BJP in Maharashtra, Ashoka expressed uncertainty but affirmed that a "revolution is on the horizon."
"We do not plan to form a government as we did in the past," he explained, referencing the 2019 'Operation Lotus' that resulted in the fall of the Congress-Janata Dal (Secular) coalition.
It is worth noting that the Karnataka BJP, under former CM BS Yediyurappa, facilitated the disintegration of the Congress and JD (S) coalition government and assumed power in 2019 post 'Operation Lotus'.
"We are preparing for elections," Ashoka stated.
"The public already perceives this government as ineffective, lacking in development initiatives. The CM is negligent; they only discuss power sharing. CM Siddaramaiah claims he will remain CM for five years, while his own MLAs are questioning when he will step down," the Opposition leader mentioned.
Ashoka described the current administration as a "Tughlaq government" and condemned its emphasis on internal power struggles rather than progress.
"This is a Tughlaq government, the worst the state has ever encountered. The contractors' association has submitted a letter regarding an 80 percent commission. They aim to exploit as much as they can," he alleged.
Ashoka also criticized the government's resource management, asserting, "The government is impoverished and lacks funds. How can the district in charge and other ministers visit flood-hit areas? That is why they are fixated on local elections to raise funds."
He claimed that all boards and corporations are underfunded, adding that student protests are ongoing, demanding recruitment, as no appointments have been made in the last 2.5 years.
Meanwhile, the state Finance Department has clearly stated that there will be no new recruitments and there are insufficient funds even for salaries. In response to this, Ashoka criticized the government for prioritizing issues such as the caste census over urgent, pressing matters.
