Officially, the meeting is said to centre on discussions around the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections. 'I have just come out of a meeting. I do not have any information regarding this matter,' Shivakumar said. When pressed on whether the Delhi meeting concerned the Rajya Sabha elections or a potential leadership change, he replied, 'I do not know.'

Shivakumar, widely perceived as a contender for the Chief Minister's post, had earlier remarked that while God shows people the path, it is their responsibility to achieve their goals through dedication and hard work — a statement that drew considerable political reading.

BJP Weighs In, Congress Dismisses Tussle Claims

Karnataka Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in-charge and National General Secretary Radha Mohan Das Agrawal has alleged that Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge was deliberately stoking differences between Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar for personal political gain — a charge the Congress has not formally addressed.

Karnataka Home Minister G. Parameshwara dismissed the leadership tussle narrative, asserting that any decision on the Chief Minister's post rests solely with the party high command. 'Who has raised the question of a leadership change?' he said, pushing back on the speculation.

The Bigger Picture

This comes amid a pattern of periodic high-command interventions in Congress-governed states, where power-sharing arrangements between CM and Deputy CM factions have required central mediation.
