New Delhi, Jan 9 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday underscored the profound spiritual, cultural, and civilizational importance of Somnath Dham, presenting it as an everlasting wellspring of faith, bravery, and self-esteem for countless generations of Indians.

As he prepares for his upcoming visit to the historic Somnath Temple on January 11, the Prime Minister conveyed a thoughtful message on the social media platform X, emphasizing the lasting legacy of this revered site.

In his message, PM Modi pointed out that Somnath Dham has been instrumental in awakening the collective consciousness of individuals for centuries, symbolizing steadfast faith and inner fortitude.

“The magnificent legacy of the sacred and pristine Somnath Dham has been stirring the consciousness of humanity for centuries. The divine energy emanating from this site will perpetually light the lamp of faith, courage, and self-respect for generations to come,” the Prime Minister stated.

The Prime Minister also shared a Sanskrit verse embodying the spiritual essence of Somnath and its connection with Lord Shiva. The verse portrays Somnath as a sacred and supremely powerful location where spiritual perfection and liberation are achieved.

“Lord Shiva, as Adinath, manifested this sacred and immensely powerful region (Prabhas Khanda) for the welfare of all living beings through his eternal principle. Bathed in divine light, this holy site is where individuals attain spiritual excellence, virtue, and liberation (moksha),” the verse loosely translates from Sanskrit.

Earlier on Thursday, in anticipation of his visit to Somnath on January 11 to partake in the Somnath Swabhiman Parv festivities, Prime Minister Modi revisited memories from his past visits to Somnath Temple, underscoring the resilience of faith despite historical challenges faced by the shrine.

In a post on the social media platform 'X', the Prime Minister remarked that the attacks on the Somnath Temple in January 1026, followed by several subsequent assaults, failed to diminish the spiritual resolve of the populace. “The Somnath Swabhiman Parv is commencing auspiciously from today. A thousand years ago, in January 1026, the Somnath Temple faced its first attack. The assault of 1026 and the many attacks that followed could not shake our eternal faith. On the contrary, these events fortified the sentiment of India's cultural unity, and the Somnath Temple was persistently revived and restored. I’m sharing a few images from my previous visits to Somnath. If you have also visited Somnath, kindly share your pictures with #SomnathSwabhimanParv,” PM Modi wrote.

The Somnath Swabhiman Parv is being organized to commemorate 1,000 years since the first major assault on the Somnath Temple in 1026, celebrating the enduring spirit of this sacred shrine and India's cultural resilience, as the temple was repeatedly rebuilt after numerous invasions over the centuries.
