Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Kharge Honor Former PM Manmohan Singh

Delhi, Dec 27 (NationPress) Prominent Congress figures Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Mallikarjun Kharge gathered on Friday to pay their respects to former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at his home.
Sonia and Rahul Gandhi laid a floral tribute at his mortal remains, which were draped in the tricolour, and offered their prayers.
In his message of condolence, Rahul Gandhi remarked, "Manmohan Singh Ji guided India with profound wisdom and integrity. His humility and extensive knowledge of economics served as an inspiration for our nation. My deepest sympathies go out to Mrs. Kaur and the family. I have lost a mentor and a guide. Many of us who respected him will remember him with immense pride."
Other Congress leaders, including Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, K. C. Venugopal, and Devendra Yadav, were also in attendance at the former PM’s residence.
The state funeral for the former Prime Minister is planned for Saturday, with his body set to be accessible for public viewing at the All India Congress Committee office prior to the ceremony.
The cremation will occur near Rajghat on Saturday afternoon, at a site designated for the last rites of Prime Ministers.
Previously, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge stated on X, "We paid our respects to former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh Ji. His remarkable service and significant contributions to our nation will never be forgotten."
Priyanka Gandhi expressed on social media, "Few political figures command the respect that Sardar Manmohan Singh Ji did. His integrity will continue to inspire us, and he will always be remembered as someone who remained dedicated to serving the nation, despite facing unjust and deeply personal attacks from his adversaries."
She highlighted the former PM as "genuinely egalitarian, wise, strong-willed, and courageous until the end—a uniquely dignified and gentle man in the harsh realm of politics."
Manmohan Singh passed away at AIIMS, Delhi, on Thursday evening at the age of 92, due to age-related health issues. He experienced a sudden loss of consciousness at home before being rushed to AIIMS Delhi.
Earlier that day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and other notable leaders visited the former PM's residence to pay their respects.
