Final Tribute to Dr. Manmohan Singh on Saturday; Remains to be Displayed at Congress Headquarters

New Delhi, Dec 27 (NationPress) As the country expresses its deep sorrow for the passing of its esteemed 14th Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, his final tribute is scheduled to start from the Congress headquarters on Saturday.

"The last journey of Dr. Manmohan Singh towards his eternal resting place will begin from AICC HQ to the cremation site at 9.30 AM on Saturday," revealed sources familiar with the arrangements for his last rites.

Dr. Manmohan Singh, celebrated as India's 14th Prime Minister and a distinguished economist, passed away at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in the national capital on Thursday night at the age of 92.

On Friday, his mortal remains will be available for public viewing at his residence located at 3, Motilal Nehru Road in the national capital, allowing citizens to extend their condolences.

On Saturday morning, his body will be placed at the Congress headquarters, providing party members an opportunity to offer floral tributes between 8.30 AM and 9.30 AM. The former Prime Minister is set to receive a state funeral.

On the day of the funeral, a half-day holiday will be observed across all Central Government offices and Central Public Sector Undertakings (CPSUs).

Following the announcement of Dr. Manmohan Singh's passing at AIIMS, an outpouring of tributes and condolences commenced.

President Murmu, PM Modi, and HM Amit Shah led the nation in honoring the former Prime Minister.

Key figures from the Congress Party, including Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge, and Wayanad MP Priyanka Vadra, also paid their respects with floral tributes.

Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi placed a wreath on his remains, draped in the Tricolour, and offered their prayers.

In his tribute message, Rahul Gandhi stated, "Manmohan Singh Ji led India with profound wisdom and integrity. His humility and comprehensive grasp of economics inspired the nation. My deepest condolences to Mrs. Kaur and the family. I have lost a mentor and guide. Millions who admired him will cherish his memory with great pride."

Vice-President Dhankhar and Dr. Sudesh Dhankhar also paid their last respects to the late Prime Minister at his residence in New Delhi.

They expressed their heartfelt condolences to Dr. Singh's family, recognizing his lasting legacy and invaluable contributions to the nation.

Meanwhile, the Union Cabinet, under PM Modi's leadership, adopted a condolence resolution in honor of former PM Dr. Manmohan Singh.

The Cabinet observed a two-minute silence to pay tribute to Dr. Singh.

A period of nationwide mourning has been declared for seven days, lasting until January 1, 2025.

During this mourning phase, the National Flag will be flown at half-mast across the country and in all Indian Missions/High Commissions abroad for the duration of the mourning.
