Rahul Gandhi Mourns the Loss of a Mentor: Dr. Manmohan Singh Passes Away

New Delhi, Dec 26 (NationPress) Congress MP Rahul Gandhi expressed his sorrow following the passing of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, who died at the age of 92 in AIIMS. He extended his heartfelt condolences to the family of the late ex-PM.
In a post on X, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha stated: "Manmohan Singh Ji guided India with remarkable wisdom and integrity. His humility and profound grasp of economics motivated the nation. My sincere condolences to Mrs. Kaur and the family. I have lost a mentor and guide. Countless individuals who respected him will remember him with great pride."
The confirmation of Dr. Singh's passing was announced by AIIMS New Delhi.
"It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of former Prime Minister of India, Dr. Manmohan Singh, aged 92. He was undergoing treatment for age-related health issues and experienced a sudden loss of consciousness at home on December 26. Immediate resuscitative efforts were initiated at home. He was then transported to the medical emergency at AIIMS. Despite all attempts, he could not be revived and was pronounced dead at 9:51 p.m.," stated the hospital.
Dr. Singh served as Prime Minister from 2004 to 2014 and played a crucial role in guiding India’s economy during a significant phase of liberalization.
He is survived by his wife, Gursharan Kaur, and their three daughters. Funeral arrangements are anticipated to be revealed shortly, with national leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, expected to pay their respects. Dr. Singh's passing signifies the conclusion of an era in Indian politics, and his leadership and legacy will continue to motivate future generations.
Earlier this year in April, Manmohan Singh retired from the Rajya Sabha, receiving praise from Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge for his extensive parliamentary career.
Manmohan Singh gained recognition as the country’s Finance Minister during the government led by P.V. Narasimha Rao from 1991 to 1996, implementing sweeping reforms that transformed the nation’s economy.
