Priyanka Gandhi Pays Tribute: 'His Integrity Will Always Motivate Us' Following Manmohan Singh's Passing

New Delhi, Dec 26 (NationPress) Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra expressed her heartfelt condolences on the passing of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, noting that 'few individuals in politics command the level of respect that Sardar Manmohan Singh ji did'.
On X, Priyanka Gandhi shared: 'His integrity will always be a source of motivation for us, and he will eternally be revered as a figure who genuinely cherished this nation. He remained unwavering in his dedication to serve the country despite enduring unjust and deeply personal criticisms from his adversaries. He exemplified egalitarianism, wisdom, determination, and bravery throughout his life. A remarkably dignified and gentle person in the tumultuous world of politics.'
The announcement of Dr. Singh's passing was made by AIIMS New Delhi.
'With immense sorrow, we announce the passing of former Prime Minister of India, Dr. Manmohan Singh, aged 92. He was undergoing treatment for age-related medical issues and experienced a sudden loss of consciousness at his residence on December 26. Immediate resuscitation efforts were initiated at home. He was transported to the emergency department at AIIMS. Despite all efforts, he could not be revived and was pronounced dead at 9:51 p.m.,' the hospital stated.
Dr. Singh served as the Prime Minister of India from 2004 to 2014 and was recognized for his pivotal role in guiding India’s economy through a transformative period of liberalization.
He is survived by his wife, Gursharan Kaur, and their three daughters. Funeral arrangements will be announced shortly, with national leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, anticipated to pay their respects. Dr. Singh's passing signifies the end of an era in Indian politics, and his leadership and legacy will undoubtedly continue to motivate future generations.
Earlier this year, in April, Manmohan Singh retired from Rajya Sabha, with Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge commending his extensive parliamentary service.
Manmohan Singh rose to prominence as the Finance Minister in the government led by PV Narasimha Rao from 1991 to 1996, implementing sweeping reforms that revolutionized the economy.
