New Delhi, Dec 27 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and various other notable leaders visited the residence of the late former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh on Friday morning to express their condolences and honor his family. Dr Singh, who passed away on Thursday night at the age of 92, was mourned by leaders from all political backgrounds. PM Modi conveyed his profound sorrow and praised Dr Singh's significant contributions to the nation's advancement.

"Dr. Manmohan Singh's vision and integrity as a leader will be forever inscribed in India’s history," PM Modi stated.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also paid his final respects, referring to Dr Singh as a statesman and a prominent economist who played a crucial role in formulating India’s contemporary economic policies.

BJP President and Union Minister J.P. Nadda participated in the tribute, highlighting Dr Singh's dedication to public service throughout his esteemed career.

The chief of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Mohan Bhagwat, also expressed profound condolences regarding the passing of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh.

In reflection of Dr Singh's legacy, the RSS acknowledged his substantial contributions to the country.

On the social media platform X, the official RSS account stated: "The entire nation is deeply grieved by the passing of former Prime Minister and senior leader Dr Sardar Manmohan Singh. The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh extends heartfelt condolences to his family and numerous admirers. Dr. Singh, who rose from a modest background, held the highest office in the country.

The Central government has declared a seven-day period of national mourning until January 1, 2025, to pay tribute to Dr Singh's legacy. A notification from the Ministry of Home Affairs directed all states and Union Territories to lower the national flag to half-mast during this time and cancel all official entertainment events.

The final rites of the former Prime Minister will be performed with full state honors, reflecting the nation’s gratitude and respect for his decades of service.

Dr Manmohan Singh served as India’s Prime Minister from 2004 to 2014 and is celebrated for his instrumental role in India’s economic liberalization in the early 1990s. His leadership combined intellectual depth with a tranquil demeanor, earning him respect both nationally and internationally.

The nation mourns the loss of one of its most esteemed leaders, whose contributions have left a profound imprint on India’s journey as a global economic powerhouse.
