Nation to Observe Seven Days of Mourning for Dr. Manmohan Singh

New Delhi, Dec 27 (NationPress) The Central government is anticipated to declare a period of seven days of national mourning as a tribute to former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who passed away at the age of 92 on Thursday, as per sources.
According to reports, the last rites for the former Prime Minister will be performed with full state honors.
It has been indicated that all government events scheduled for Friday will be postponed, and the Union Cabinet is set to convene at 11 a.m., sources revealed.
The National Flag will be displayed at half-mast throughout the nation during the mourning period on all buildings where it is typically flown, and there will be no official entertainment during this time.
The confirmation of Dr. Singh's passing was issued by AIIMS New Delhi.
"With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of former Prime Minister of India, Dr. Manmohan Singh, aged 92. He was receiving treatment for age-related health issues and experienced a sudden loss of consciousness at home on December 26. Resuscitation efforts were initiated immediately at home. He was subsequently admitted to AIIMS. Despite all attempts, he could not be revived and was declared deceased at 9:51 p.m.," stated the hospital.
Dr. Singh, who held the position of Prime Minister from 2004 to 2014, was renowned for his pivotal role in guiding India’s economy during a significant period of liberalization.
He is survived by his wife, Gursharan Kaur, and their three daughters. Details regarding funeral arrangements are expected to be released soon, with prominent national leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, likely to participate in commemorating his legacy. Dr. Singh's passing signifies the conclusion of an era in Indian politics, with his leadership and legacy poised to inspire future generations.
This past April, Manmohan Singh retired from Rajya Sabha, with Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge commending his extensive parliamentary career.
Manmohan Singh rose to prominence as the nation’s Finance Minister in the government led by P.V. Narasimha Rao from 1991 to 1996, implementing sweeping reforms that transformed the economy.
