Sambhal, Sep 18 (NationPress) Zia Ur Rehman Barq, the Lok Sabha representative of the Samajwadi Party from Uttar Pradesh's Sambhal, expressed his support on Thursday for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call for citizens to embrace 'Swadeshi' products. He articulated a desire for locally manufactured goods to gain international recognition and be exported globally.
However, Barq highlighted concerns regarding the decline in exports due to tariffs set by the United States, which has left many companies in Sambhal at risk of shutting down.
He raised concerns about the effectiveness of national policies, stating that they must be enhanced to promote the global export of Swadeshi products.
According to the SP leader, businesses in Muradabad and Sambhal that employ between 200 and 2,000 individuals are currently laying off workers, with numerous firms nearing closure.
In response to PM Modi's suggestion to observe September 17 as Hyderabad Liberation Day, the SP MP remarked, 'We hold the Indian Army in high regard, take pride in its strength, and trust in its capability to face any challenges.'
Notably, PM Modi had recently urged Indian citizens to adopt Swadeshi goods as a means to bolster the nation's self-sufficiency.
He stressed that the journey towards a developed India hinges on empowering local industries and supporting indigenous products.
Furthermore, PM Modi encouraged the public to take pride in Made in India items and to back local artisans, manufacturers, and entrepreneurs.
In a symbolic initiative, the Prime Minister suggested that every shop should display a sign that reads 'Garv se kaho ye swadeshi hai' (Say with pride, this is Swadeshi).
His address in Dhar, Madhya Pradesh was part of a larger campaign promoting Atmanirbhar Bharat, or self-reliant India.
