Chennai, April 17 (NationPress) Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M. K. Stalin, praised the solidarity of opposition factions within the INDIA bloc on Friday, extending his gratitude to numerous national and regional leaders for their united stance against the Central Government's proposed Delimitation Bill.
In a social media update, Stalin specifically thanked Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi for voicing his concerns in Parliament, criticizing what he termed a maneuver by the BJP to advance the legislation without sufficient consultation or agreement.
Stalin also recognized the backing of prominent leaders such as Sonia Gandhi, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Kerala's Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, CPI leader D. Raja, Telangana's Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Karnataka's Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav, NCP chief Sharad Pawar, RJD leader Lalu Prasad Yadav, Jharkhand's Chief Minister Hemant Soren, former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal, Uddhav Thackeray from Shiv Sena (UBT), Odisha's Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, and SAD leader Sukhbir Singh Badal, among others.
In his statement, Stalin asserted that the intended delimitation process was being exploited as a political strategy to fragment the nation along North-South lines and modify India's political dynamics. He contended that the Opposition's cohesive response had successfully challenged such moves.
"They attempted to fragment us into North and South to weaken us. However, INDIA stood united and thwarted their plans," Stalin declared in his message.
Highlighting the necessity for ongoing collaboration among opposition parties, he characterized the current phase as merely the beginning of a significant political struggle. He urged for a more robust and decisive counteraction against the BJP's policies in the near future.
This statement emerges amid growing political discourse regarding delimitation, with numerous leaders from the southern states voicing apprehensions about its potential ramifications on representation. Stalin's comments reflect the INDIA bloc's efforts to showcase unity and strengthen their position ahead of important electoral contests.
