Key Takeaways
Chennai, March 15 (NationPress) Tamil Nadu's Chief Minister and DMK leader, M.K. Stalin, on Sunday, laid the blame on the BJP-led Union government for the current crisis regarding the shortage of LPG cylinders nationwide. He called for immediate measures from the Centre to address the situation and ease the struggles faced by citizens.
In a social media statement, Stalin condemned what he referred to as the Union government's misguided policies, asserting that these decisions have greatly contributed to the ongoing disruption in the supply of cooking gas cylinders.
The Chief Minister pointed out that this shortage is impacting not only families but also small enterprises and restaurants that rely heavily on LPG for their daily operations.
Stalin further asserted that the crisis stems from a deficient foreign policy approach taken by the Union government.
He criticized the Centre for failing to foresee potential disruptions in LPG supply and for not implementing adequate preventive measures to shield consumers from global market fluctuations.
"There is a lack of clear vision and no precautionary actions taken. As a result, citizens throughout the country are currently facing severe challenges," Stalin remarked in his post, firmly condemning the Union government’s management of the crisis.
According to Stalin, political parties within the Secular Progressive Alliance (SPA) organized protests across Tamil Nadu on Sunday to voice their opposition to the LPG shortage and demand swift action from the Union government.
These demonstrations aimed to bring attention to the grievances of ordinary people who are grappling with rising prices and the limited availability of LPG cylinders.
Party leaders indicated that protests were held in various districts, where alliance members rallied against the Centre, urging for prompt actions to stabilize LPG supply.
Stalin insisted that the Centre must recognize the public outrage surrounding this issue and take rapid action to remedy the crisis. He emphasized that the Union government should guarantee sufficient availability of LPG cylinders and take measures to avert future shortages.
"The Union government must understand the frustrations and anger of the populace and act instantly to resolve this pressing concern," Stalin stated.
His comments come amid escalating worries regarding LPG availability and supply interruptions reported across numerous regions in the country. Opposition parties have increasingly targeted the Centre for its handling of this situation, while consumers and businesses continue to seek relief from the ongoing LPG scarcity.
