Hyderabad, Jan 18 (NationPress) STT Global Data Centres India Private Limited (STT GDC India), a prominent player in data centre solutions, is set to invest Rs.3,500 crore to establish a data centre campus in Telangana.
On Saturday, the company formalized a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Telangana government for the creation of a cutting-edge data centre campus in Meerkhanpet, located in the Mucherla area of Hyderabad.
STT GDC India, recognized as a leading AI-ready co-location data centre services provider in India, operates as a majority-owned subsidiary of ST Telemedia Global Data Centres in Singapore.
This MoU was signed with the presence of Telangana’s ITEC and industry Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu, Special Chief Secretary Jayesh Ranjan, TGIIC VC and MD Vishnu Vardhan Reddy, and Bruno Lopez, Group CEO of ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC), at the STT GDC office in Singapore.
A delegation from the state, led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, is currently on a trip to Singapore aimed at attracting investments to the region.
According to a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office, “The planned state-of-the-art AI-ready data centre campus will utilize advanced technologies with a targeted capacity of up to 100 MW, along with significant scalability for future expansion, positioning it as one of the largest data centre projects in the country.”
The Chief Minister expressed his congratulations to STT Global for this decision, conveying optimism that Hyderabad is poised to become the data centre capital.
Bruno Lopez remarked, “This partnership reflects our shared objective of fostering economic growth, creating jobs, and building a sustainable digital future.”
Minister Sridhar Babu welcomed the development, expressing confidence in Hyderabad’s potential to become a global data hub.
“TelanganaRising is on an unstoppable trajectory. STT GDC’s commitment to invest in Telangana underscores the state’s strong ecosystem and innovative policies. We believe that Hyderabad will play a significant role in the ongoing AI-driven digital transformation worldwide,” he stated.
The investment by STT GDC India in Telangana is part of its larger vision to achieve a design capacity of 1 GW across India over the next decade, with an estimated investment outlook of around USD 3.2 billion.
Currently, the company operates a data centre in HITEC City, Hyderabad, and this new campus will enhance its footprint in the state.
