Jabalpur, May 5 (NationPress) A female B. Tech student has been detained for allegedly recording an MMS of a fellow student in the hostel bathroom in Madhya Pradesh's Jabalpur, as reported by the police on Monday.
The incident reportedly occurred on Sunday, with the victim notifying the hostel warden that someone had recorded her while she was bathing.
According to an official, the victim revealed that a second-year student in the B.Tech Computer Science program had been filming her senior female classmates during their showers, subsequently sharing those videos with her boyfriends residing in Delhi.
Following the complaint, the college's administration, in conjunction with the hostel warden and some female students, conducted a search which led to the identification of the accused.
"The hostel warden has pinpointed the girl responsible for this act. The director has established a high-level investigative committee comprised of four members," stated a female staff member, who is overseeing the investigation, during a press briefing on Monday.
The victim is demanding a comprehensive investigation into the case.
A senior police officer at Dumma police station, who is handling the investigation, confirmed that the accused has been arrested and is currently under interrogation.
Authorities have also confiscated two mobile phones and one laptop from the accused, which have been sent for further examination.
"The accused, a second-year B. Tech student from Maharashtra, was residing in the same hostel where the incident transpired. During questioning, she admitted to her wrongdoing. She has been charged under the relevant laws, and the investigation is ongoing," the police officer added.
Furthermore, the officer mentioned that two mobile phones and a laptop were recovered from the accused student.
