Chennai, July 9 (NationPress) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin urged students to uphold the principles of Mahatma Gandhi, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, and Periyar, while firmly cautioning them against adopting divisive ideologies such as that of Nathuram Godse. During his speech at the inauguration of the platinum jubilee celebrations at Jamal Mohamed College in Tiruchirappalli, the Chief Minister paid tribute to the college’s founders, N.M. Khajamian Rowther and M. Jamal Mohamed Sahib, who established the institution with the intention of uplifting the marginalized.
“They walked in the footsteps of Gandhiji, committing themselves to the advancement of society,” he remarked.
“Gandhiji, Ambedkar, and Periyar have shown us noble paths. These are the ideals that our youth should aspire to. Students must resist influences that promote Godse’s ideology,” CM Stalin strongly stated.
Emphasizing the significance of political awareness and self-respect, CM Stalin noted, “When we stand together, no force can defeat us politically. The Dravidian Model government is for the people of Tamil Nadu and is grounded in self-respect and social justice. Education is the cornerstone of a stronger and fairer society.”
He reiterated his administration’s dedication to ensuring political rights for the Muslim community and announced plans to distribute 20 lakh laptops to students as part of its educational initiatives.
CM Stalin is currently on a two-day visit to Tiruvarur district. He will travel by road to Kalaignar Kottam in Kattur. In the evening, a grand roadshow will take place across key areas in Tiruvarur, including Pavithramanickam, Durgalaya Road, South Road, Panagal Road, the old bus stand, and the railway roundabout.
A significant highlight will be the unveiling of a life-size bronze statue of former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi at the railway roundabout, initiated by the local DMK unit. Following the roadshow, CM Stalin will visit his ancestral residence on Sannathi Street for an overnight stay. On the second day, he is set to attend a government event near the new bus stand in S.S. Nagar, where he will inaugurate completed infrastructure projects and lay foundation stones for new ventures.
He will also distribute welfare assistance to thousands of beneficiaries from various government departments as part of the DMK government’s ongoing outreach efforts. After concluding the day's events, CM Stalin will travel via Thanjavur to Tiruchirappalli and then fly back to Chennai.
