Chennai, July 15 (NationPress) Emphasizing the strength and solidarity of his coalition, Chief Minister and DMK President M.K. Stalin asserted that the BJP’s initiatives for Tamil Nadu would not prevail as long as the ideological movements rooted in the region remained cohesive.
During the launch of the ‘Ungaludan Stalin’ (Stalin With You) initiative in Chidambaram, Cuddalore district, the Chief Minister pointed out that leaders from the Dravidian movement, inspired by Periyar’s philosophy, socialist figures influenced by Marxist ideology, nationalists committed to Gandhian values, and Ambedkarite leaders are all standing together, representing the political and ideological unity of Tamil Nadu.
He was addressing VCK president and Chidambaram MP, Thol Thirumavalavan, who emphasized the strength of the INDIA bloc, a coalition of progressive and secular forces in the state. Supporting his ally’s remarks, Stalin stated that no saffron agenda from any coalition in Delhi could succeed while Tamil Nadu remains unified in this way. The Chief Minister’s statements come amidst ongoing rumors about possible fractures in the DMK-led alliance, with speculation that one or more allies might lean towards the BJP in anticipation of the 2026 Assembly elections.
However, Stalin categorically dismissed such rumors and reaffirmed the integrity and stability of his coalition.
Earlier in the day, the CM inaugurated a statue and a memorial auditorium for the late Dalit leader and former MP, L. Elayaperumal, at Lalpuram in Chidambaram. Paying heartfelt tributes to the leader, Stalin expressed that his government remains dedicated to the advancement and empowerment of Scheduled Castes and other marginalized communities.
He reiterated his call for amending the caste name suffixes of SC and ST communities in Tamil Nadu, advocating for the Tamil suffix ‘IR’ instead of ‘IN’ to restore dignity and identity. Acknowledging that social change occurs gradually, Stalin stated, “Social liberation is a long journey. I don’t claim that everything will change today or tomorrow, but it will. I, Muthuvel Karunanidhi Stalin, will change it.”
The Chief Minister also announced the establishment of a new industrial park spanning 150 acres at Kodukkanpalayam near Kurinjipadi, aimed at producing non-leather footwear and components. This project, with an investment of Rs 75 crore, is anticipated to create employment for 12,000 women in the area, thereby contributing to both industrial development and women’s empowerment in Cuddalore district.
